Dinamika Penggunaan Bahasa Daerah dalam Interaksi Sosial Mahasiswa Etnis Nias di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Medan

Penelitian ini mengkaji dinamika penggunaan bahasa daerah oleh mahasiswa etnis Nias di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial Universitas Negeri Medan dalam konteks interaksi sosial dan akademik. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terhadap sepuluh mahasiswa Nias yang dipilih secara purposif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa bahasa Nias digunakan untuk memperkuat solidaritas dan identitas budaya dalam interaksi sesama etnis, sedangkan Bahasa Indonesia digunakan dalam konteks akademik dan lintas etnis sebagai bentuk adaptasi sosial. Fenomena alih kode dan perbedaan strategi komunikasi berdasarkan gender juga ditemukan, menunjukkan fleksibilitas linguistik mahasiswa dalam menyesuaikan bahasa sesuai konteks sosial. Temuan ini dianalisis menggunakan Teori Akomodasi Komunikasi dan menunjukkan strategi bilingualisme adaptif yang memungkinkan mahasiswa mempertahankan identitas budaya sembari berintegrasi dalam lingkungan multikultural
